Development of heterogeneous catalysts for fine chemicals synthesis has become a major area of
research [1].Also, the design of silica supported transition metal oxides represents a rapidly growing
field that has significantly applied in industry. In continuation of our studies on the synthesis of new
inorganic silica-based resins [2] and dihydropyridines [3],We wish to report an efficient and
convenient procedure for the oxidation of Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines to the corresponding
pyridines using silica vanadic acid as catalyst and hydrogen peroxide as green oxidant under mild
conditions (Scheme 1)
