Phthalocyanines are widely used as pigments in textiles, polymers and paints. In recent
times, research has been retargeted for applications in materials science, because of their
distinctive optical and electrical properties as well as their chemical and thermal stability.1
On the other hands,magnetic core-shell, consisting of an iron oxide core and a silica shell,
have attracted more attention for their unique magnetic properties, low cytotoxicity, good
stability, and chemically modifiable surface.1,2 Thus, immobilization of the cobalt
phthalocyanine via covalent attachment to the supporting materials can combine the
phthalocyanine characteristics with the advantages of magnetic nanoparticles to facilitate
catalyst recovery, recycling and to reduce effluent.
In contamination. With this aim, we decided to design, synthesis and characterise
dendrimer cobalt phthalocyanine and its using as a heterogeneous, recyclable and reusable
nano catalyst in the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives at room temperature.
The scope and limitations of the described procedure will be discussed.
